Troy Napope

Nearly 11 months after Troy Cecile Napope went missing after leaving a party that had been held outside Prince Albert, RCMP investigators believe they’ve found his remains.

The Saskatchewan RCMP issued a release on Wednesday afternoon, saying its underwater recovery team (URT) found the remains of a body in a slough around 9 a.m.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit had been an hour into one of many search efforts to find Napope when the URT team made the discovery.

They were searching private property in a rural area west of the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, which is located on the outskirts of Prince Albert.

The property owners did grant access to the RCMP for the search, and those owners are not connected to the investigation, according to the news release.

An autopsy has yet to be held to confirm the identity of the remains, but the RCMP is saying they’re confident the remains are those of Napope.

The RCMP is thanking Prince Albert Police for their help during the investigation into Napope’s disappearance and death.

Two men are in custody, charged with first-degree murder for Napope’s death. Those men are Skylar Patrick Bird and Braidy Chase Vermette.
