A suspect in an attempted murder in La Ronge makes his first court appearance today.

Elias Ballantyne is facing several charges following a stabbing in the northern community last Thursday evening.

Local Mounties responding to a complaint found a 50-year-old man suffering from serious stab wounds at a residence at around 8 p.m. that night.

Shortly afterwards, La Ronge RCMP arrested the 43-year-old suspect without incident at another home in the community.

In addition to attempted murder, Ballantyne is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

No word on the condition of the victim.
