The File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council is dismayed the chief of the Regina Police Service believes there are no racists within his police force.
Last week, Troy Hagen made his comments in response to the RCMP admitting the Mounties have racists within their ranks.
FHQ Vice Tribal Chair Elaine Chicoose says in a media release that Hagen justifies his remarks using statistics of lack of proven racism.
She adds the tribal council has many accounts of Indigenous people with negative experiences with Regina police.
Chicoose goes on to say Hagen’s words diminish or eradicate the legitimacy of some of her people’s reality.
