The Mamawetan Churchill River Health region is stepping up its online presence.

On Thursday, MCHR launched a new website. The website,  http://www.mcrhealth.ca/ lets people know about flu clinics, facility hours, and some community highlights. That includes the “feel-good stories” like New Year’s babies, Elaine Kaloustian, director of communications with MCHR.

“Part of the website will act as a resource base when you’re looking for information on programs and just health information in general,” she said.

Although the move was prompted by the website’s host discontinuing services, the health region took advantage of the change by adding more features to the new website.

Adding a new search feature has been a big plus, Kaloustian said.

But that doesn’t mean they’re moving on from the traditional ways of informing the public.

“We have to be a little more sensitive to people that are dependent on the radio and TV, and not forget about those outlets as well,” she said.

MCHR provides care for more than 23,500 residents in more than 50 communities and First Nations spread out across north-eastern Saskatchewan.

It also has a Facebook page to share information.
