More than 100 people from First Nations communities gathered in Saskatoon on Tuesday to learn about community energy planning.

A wide range of topics will be discussed ranging from managing household electricity to large industrial projects like solar and wind energy.

First Nations Power Authority CEO Leah Nelson Guay says it’s really important to understand how energy affects us in our daily lives.

“The opportunity in energy is great, and lots of times we have communities that are interested in developing projects and are frustrated with that development process. We’re really here to lay out the framework, come up with a plan. If things don’t work now it’s not a no, it’s a not yet,” Guay said.

Guay said she hopes people get a sense of what the opportunities are in the energy sector.
