Miss FSIN Jolene Creely spent the last 12 months representing the FSIN, SIGA, BHP Billiton, “Spirit of our Nations” Cultural Celebration and Powwow.

Jolene Creely giggles and laughs thinking about how quickly her life changed when she was crowned Miss FSIN at last year’s “Spirit of our Nations” Cultural Celebration and Powwow.

Creely says the best part of her duties was getting to travel and meet people like Miss Indian World in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during the Gathering of Nations Powwow.

Creely will relinquish her Miss FSIN crown this weekend when they select a new princess on Saturday evening.

“It was an honour to represent all the youth in Saskatchewan, to be able to uphold a positive image for myself and for people to look up to as well,” she said. “This title just gives you a meaning to succeed in life and to show that you are a positive role model.”

Creely plans to continue with her university studies and pursuing a career in journalism.

The annual FSIN, SIGA, BHP Billiton, “Spirit of our Nations” Cultural Celebration and Powwow gets underway this Friday evening in Saskatoon with a grand entry at 7 p.m.
