The two men accused of killing a 17-year-old Prince Albert boy are set for trial by judge and jury.
In April of 2014, Clayton James Bear was found with a gunshot wound in Prince Albert’s East Hill area. He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Herron was arrested in his home city of Prince Albert, while Johnson had been in custody in his home province of Alberta on a separate matter. Johnson had to be transferred to Saskatchewan.
When the two men went to pretrial in Prince Albert on Friday, Herron was out of custody while Johnson was still on remand.
They’ve chosen to be tried by judge and jury at their two-week trial, which starts on April 18, 2016 at Prince Albert’s Court of Queen’s Bench.
Prince Albert police had previously stated they believe Bear’s death was not a random act.
