A request for a vote recount in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River came in under the wire.

The deadline for judicial recount requests was due within four days of the election results being validated. That means candidates had to apply before Thursday.

The campaign manager for the losing candidate, Liberal Lawrence Joseph, has confirmed he did file an application at Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench on Wednesday.

However, Lawrence Joseph’s team has yet to hear back from the courts about whether a recount will be granted.

Joseph lost by just 70 votes to the NDP’s Georgina Jolibois.

There were 169 rejected ballots during the October 19th vote, in what was the second-closest race in Canada.

Joseph has maintained there were some reserve polling stations – including his home reserve – that temporarily ran out of ballots, causing some voters to leave before voting.

Elections Canada is disputing those claims.
