A semi driver died when he was trying to get out of the mud near Waskesiu early Monday morning.
He had been hauling logs just south of Highway 2’s Waskesiu junction when the semi got stuck.
A coworker came to help the driver, but in the process something went wrong.
The driver was pinned under the cab, and declared dead at the scene.
The incident led to a multi-hour road closure after 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning, and is still under investigation by Waskesiu RCMP.
In addition, an RCMP collision reconstructionist, Parkland EMS, Lakeland Fire Department, the coroner and Occupational Health and Safety attended the scene and assisted with the investigation.
