Two career-training buses have a new look and a new purpose.

On Wednesday the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) showed off new paint jobs on their two career training buses.

SIIT’s Lisa Shingoose explains what the Job Connections buses have to offer.

“We want to bring targeted employment recruitment events to First Nation communities, whereas communities might not have otherwise been able to access targeted recruitment. For example, we want to work with employers who are interested in working with us,” she said.

“We want to determine how to bring a recruitment event, how to educate people at community levels on what qualifications, credentials, skills and abilities are needed to acquire certain jobs.”

The buses will begin delivering services to First Nation communities across the province next month.

The provincial government provided $325,000 to assist with the recruitment program and to help pay for the new look on the buses.
