Canada Post has stopped shipping mail to and from the La Ronge post office until further notice becasue of the northbound closure of Highway 2.

A spokesperson says they will continue to re-examine the situation daily and let people know as soon as they can pick up or send mail.

The Saskatchewan Transportation Company has also temporarily suspended bus service in between Prince Albert and La Ronge.

S-T-C says it will also re-examine the situation after the highway re-opens, but they may continue to suspend their service until the smoke clears up.

SaskPower meanwhile has had its own struggles dealing with the fires in the north.

Fires caused a power outage in the Stanley Mission, Missinipe and the Grandmother’s Bay areas last night, but power was restored to the area this morning.

SaskPower did have plans for a planned outage for further maintenance in the area tomorrow morning, but that has been cancelled because of the fires.

Spokesperson Jonathan Tremblay says they will continue to work to restore power to any line or substation that goes down, but safety is their biggest concern.

Tremblay says as of now there is no immediate threat to any line or substation, but they will continue to monitor the situation.
