Organizers say thousands of people attended the Rise-Up Prince Albert concert last month and now they are expecting a big turnout for the upcoming concert in La Ronge.

Rise-Up La Ronge is a concert that will coincide with the communities Canada Day celebrations on July 1.

Sixteen acts will be taking to the stage with what organizers say will feature plenty of local and Aboriginal content.

The theme of the concert is to invite people to stand up against violence toward women.

A message that organizer Danny Mirasty says they wanted to bring to the north.

“We always seem to have to deal with some form of abuse one way or another,” said Mirasty. “The concert will aim to bring more attention to the issue and let people know there is help out there.”

The Rise-Up La Ronge concert will start at 4pm following the Fred Penner concert and will run until 10:30pm, right before the fireworks.
