Update – Saturday, June 27/15 1pm:
In the La Loche-Clearwater River Dene Nation area evacuations are underway because of smoke from fires in the area.
This is a voluntary evacuation for people on the chronic health list, elders, children under 2 years old and expectant mothers.
The evacuation effort involving the town and the First Nation is centered at the community hall.
An estimated 100 people were moved out of the community on Friday and another bus will be leaving this afternoon.
