Detox services in La Ronge have been temporarily closed.

The local health region says it needs the space at the health centre to temporarily house a pharmacy and the medical clinic after this month’s fire.

Health region CEO Andrew McLetchie says they didn’t want to do this, but at least it’s the time of year where there are few detox clients.

“We also kind of looked at the demand that we often have during the summer and saw it to be a fairly low demand and felt there were alternate ways for us to manage people who have addictions and require detox services,” he says.

McLetchie says they average between one to two clients in the summer months — but there are currently no clients.

He also says anyone needing detox services in La Ronge will be referred to another community, likely Prince Albert.
