An upcoming workshop in Prince Albert is offering businesses a chance to further understand First Nation treaties.

Understanding Treaties, presented by the Office of the Treaty Commissioner, will take place at the Prince Albert Inn on February 24.

Workshop facilitator John Lagimodiere says a broader understanding of First Nations treaties can generate successful collaborative partnerships.

He says these partnerships will help move Saskatchewan forward.

“A big thing here we have to remember, in Saskatchewan half of the First Nation and Métis population in our province is under the age of 20,” he says. “We have a very young, fast growing population. Going forward we have to have good working relationships and understanding each other is part of good working relationships.”

The Understanding Treaties workshop will also feature a presentation Treaty Commissioner George Lafond.
