RCMP say they believe the five missing teens from Southend have been located.
The teens have been missing for almost a week in the Reindeer Lake area.
The Civilian Area Search and Rescue spotted five people on the shoreline of Malcolm Island, about 10 kilometres south of the community of Kinoosao, around 12:50 p.m. Monday.
Police are still trying to confirm whether it is the five missing youth.
A search boat is currently on its way to the island.
RCMP spokesperson Mandy Maier says strong winds have hampered search efforts so far.
“There are large waves on the lake and the temperature ranged from -10 to -18 degrees Celsius with some snow falling, so all those factors absolutely play into the search operation at this point,” she says.
Because of limited cell coverage in the area, RCMP say it may be some time before they are able to confirm if the five spotted are the missing teens.
