The Saskatoon Police have suspended an officer as the result of an alleged attempt to obstruct justice.

Police say Constable Steven Nelson, a nine-year veteran of the force, is accused of being involved in the disappearance of a victim statement.

The alleged infraction occurred between August 2012 and October 2013.

The Prosecutions Branch of Saskatchewan Justice reviewed an initial investigation by police and recommended a charge of attempting to obstruct justice.

Cst. Nelson is also under investigation to determine if any of the alleged actions contravene the Saskatchewan Police Act.

Nelson is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on November 20.
