The Federal Minister of State for Finance was in Prince Albert last Friday meeting with local business leaders.

Kevin Sorensen and Prince Albert Conservative MP Randy Hoback hosted the meeting which discussed business, budgets and taxes.

Sorensen says these meetings are conducted each fall to discuss the needs of different groups prior to the spring budget.

Hoback says First Nations stakeholder groups were not represented at this particular meeting but local First Nations businesses were.

He says the Northern Lights Casino shared how they focus on the development of the person above profits.

“They have gone and developed skill sets in the casino and people have taken those skill sets to other jobs outside the casino,” he says. “You have your first job and then you want your second and third job and each time you advance your income level goes up and your ability to provide for your family goes up and gets better.”

All information collected through these meetings will be taken back to Ottawa for further discussion.
