SaskPower has been recognized for its work with the Aboriginal community.

It has been awarded Silver Status by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.

Silver status was awarded to only three other companies in Canada last year. The designation is based on four key areas:  employment, community investment, business development and community engagement.

SaskPower president Robert Watson says the award is an opportunity to reflect on the company’s commitment to working across cultures and communities that call Saskatchewan home.

Last year, SaskPower launched its first Aboriginal procurement policy and signed formal agreements with three Aboriginal groups, including the First Nations Power Authority.
