The relationship between the Crown and First Nations people was the theme at a statue unveiling in Saskatoon today.

Prince Edward was in the city for the statue unveiling at River Landing.

The statue was given to the city by the Whitecap Dakota First Nation to honour the alliance that was formed in the War of 1812.

Edward says that spirit continues today.

“So many different peoples have come to Canada, but you all come together to share in the alliance of being able to protect this land and the future of this land.”

Edward says he hopes the alliance between the British Crown and First Nations people of Canada can continue many years into the future.
