A coroner’s jury has heard more testimony at the inquest into the police shooting death of 27-year-old Ryan Natomagan Nelson in Prince Albert last year.

Natomagan-Nelson was fatally shot by Prince Albert police on July 9, 2013.

The jury heard from Mary Natomagan, Ryan’s mother, who said that in a brief interaction with Ryan on the day of the incident she could tell her son was upset.

Constable James Acorn, an officer who arrived on the scene after the incident, also shared testimony.

Acorn said Natomagan-Nelson was still moving and talking when he arrived.

Inquest proceedings have wrapped up for the day.

The jury will continue to hear testimony throughout the week, before making recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.
