A man is in custody after 23 vehicles had their windows smashed and broken into at a locked compound in La Ronge early Sunday morning.

The vehicles are stored in the compound while the owners are flown to fishing camps in the La Ronge area.

RCMP say an officer happened to be passing the area when the complaint came in — and was able to surprise the suspect, who was still breaking into vehicles and rummaging through their contents.

The suspect was arrested without incident.

He is facing several charges and is being held in custody for a court appearance in La Ronge this Tuesday.

RCMP continue to investigate as they believe that the suspect may not have been working alone.

Anyone whose vehicle was damaged or has information regarding this incident is asked to contact the La Ronge RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
