A firm with gold mining interests in northern Saskatchewan is reporting a $3.3-million profit in the last quarter.

In the same quarter last year, Claude Resources suffered a net loss of $9.9 million.

The company credits its performance to an increase in gold sales volume and continued operational improvements.

Claude Resources saw record production of 18,742 ounces of gold  a 51 per cent increase from the previous quarter.

The company says it also set new highs in safety and environment performance.

Based on its first half performance, the company has increased its 2014 gold production target.
