Record water levels have now been reached at Emma and Christopher Lakes and that has prompted the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency to issue an advisory.

Recent rainfall is being blamed for the high water and more precipitation is expected in the area over the next few days.

Agency spokesperson Patrick Boyle says if the water continues to rise, many people could be affected.

“I believe there is somewhere in the order of 1,100 landowners in the area, or cottages — so certainly there are some that would be close to the shoreline and others, depending on how they are set back from the water.  So those are the ones we’re asking, those landowners, to contact us if they feel their property could be affected.”

Boyle says any landowner who believes their property may be affected by high water can contact the Water Security Agency about the Emergency Flood Damage Reduction Program.
