Two people were injured this morning following a plane crash in northern Saskatchewan.

Shortly before noon RCMP were contacted by the Winnipeg Flight Control Center which had received a distress call from a private plane.

The aircraft crashed about 20 kilometers southwest of Points North Landing at a permanent camp.

There were two people in the Republic RC-3 Seabee amphibious sports aircraft which was headed to Yellowknife.

At last report a 53-year-old male pilot and 29-year-old male co-pilot from Thorndale, Ontario were being removed by search and rescue technicians in a Griffon Helicopter.

They were to be taken to Saskatoon for medical assessment in a Hercules aircraft.

Both the helicopter and Hercules are from the Department of National Defense.

Transport Canada has been notified and the men’s names have not been released.
