The Crown and defence both say a 70-year-old former Moosomin Day School teacher changed his ways while in prison.

This is part of the reason he received the sentence he did for assaulting girls at the Moosomin Day School in the 1960s.

On Monday, Morris David Hryniuk was sentenced to a 90-day intermittent sentence in the Prince Albert Correctional Centre.

He will serve this sentence on weekends.

In addition, Hryniuk received a conditional sentence order confining him to his home and/or property for two years less a day.

He must also complete 100 hours of community service by February 28, 2016.

The Crown and defence both said after Hryniuk was sentenced for similar crimes in B.C. in the 1980s, he became a model prisoner.

He took courses to combat sexual deviance and addictions.

After Hryniuk was released, he never re-offended.

The court received victim impact statements on how the former teacher’s actions ruined the lives of several generations.
