The provincial government is investing $150,000 to help improve the educational attainment rates of students from the Yorkton Tribal Council.

The announcement was made Tuesday morning at the education complex on the Cote First Nation.

The investment will help fund a shared services agreement between the tribal council and the Good Spirit School Division.

The idea behind the agreement is to ensure on-reserve students moving between the two school systems receive the same supports regardless of where they choose to do their learning.

The agreement affects students from the Cote and Keeseekoose First Nations.

Students from these communities attend the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute, Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex or Keeseekoose Chiefs Education Centre.

The investment is based on a recommendation from the Joint Task Force on Aboriginal Employment and Education.
