Canoeists and kayakers will have an additional resource when planning their trip to the province’s north this summer.

Currently, paddlers depend on the government guides to document paddling routes in northern Saskatchewan.

But for the first time, these guides are being enhanced. The new resource is an easy-to-use book that gives paddlers a more in-depth look at the area and routes.

The book is called Paddling Routes Of Northern Saskatchewan, and author Gregory Marchildon says it helps paddlers better plan their trips through the rivers and lakes:

“It shows you the sites of interest.  It shows you how long the portages are, the difficulty of the rapids and how many rapids you’ll be facing on any given trip.  And they range, in terms of difficulty, from very easy trips that involve no rapids to trips that challenge even the most expert paddler.”

The book includes over 20 documented canoe routes and has more than 50 illustrated maps.
