The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority has announced it is adding another 250 slot machines to its casinos.

The slot machines are set to be installed in SIGA’s six casinos in 2015 bringing the total number to 2,120.

The last time slot machines were added to SIGA casinos was 2008.

Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority Donna Harpauer says in a release the new slot machines will help address capacity issues at peak playing times while adding additional revenue for First Nations and government priorities.

Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Chief Perry Bellegarde adds in the same release the additional slot machines reflect confidence in SIGA’s gaming operations.

SIGA employs approximately 1,900 employees at its casinos in Prince Albert, North Battleford, Yorkton, Swift Current, the Whitecap Dakota First Nation and the White Bear First Nation.

In 2012-13, the gaming authority recorded a net income of $86.8 million.
