Members of the Muskowekwan First Nation have given the band and council a green light to proceed with a potash mine on reserve land.

The proposal was part of a 6-question referendum that was supported by nearly 80 per cent of voters.

The mine is a joint venture between the Muskowekwan and Encanto Potash.

Chief Reginald Bellerose says the project is precedent setting.

He says the mine will provide all kinds of economic benefits for the reserve.
