A man accused of defrauding the Whitecap Dakota First Nation of more than a million dollars is facing new charges.

Hugo Gallegos was back in Saskatoon provincial court Monday morning.

He now faces additional charges of theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000 and laundering the proceeds of crime.

These offences are alleged to have happened between January 2009 and July 2013.

Gallegos is a former accountant with Whitecap Dakota.

Facing charges, Gallegos briefly fled the country to El Salvador last fall but later returned.
