The new chief and council at Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation have given themselves substantial pay cuts.
Each member of council will see salary reductions from an average of $51,000 to $44,000
Chief Rick Gamble took the biggest pay cut at 50 per cent, which leaves him with a salary of $48,000 per year.
In a release, Gamble says the band council will continue to establish new priorities for their community.
The new chief and council were elected last Friday.
