Delegates from nine First Nations in northwest Saskatchewan appear satisfied with the work of a tribal council leader.

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council held a vice-chief election today — and incumbent Dwayne Lasas of the Waterhen Lake Cree Nation was re-elected in a landslide.

Lasas received 44 votes, while challenger Francis C. Iron of the Canoe Lake Cree Nation picked up five.

The election victory means Lasas will be in office for the next four years.

He has been in the position since winning a by-election in early 2011.
