A coalition of First Nations near the Alberta/Saskatchewan border say they’ve sold their first two loads of heavy oil.

The Cold Lake First Nations joint venture says that’s approximately 377 barrels in all.

Walter Janvier is a spokesperson for the group.

In a release he says they’ve actually been producing oil for more than two decades.

But the October 9th sale marks a new milestone for them as it was the first time they actually sent oil to market.

Janvier says Cold Lake and their partners are pleased with the progress and look forward to even greater success.
