Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall did some minor tweaking to his cabinet on Friday.

Russ Marchuk has stepped down from the education portfolio and is being replaced by Labour Minister Don Morgan while Rob Norris takes on advanced education.

Premier Brad Wall admits Marchuk had experienced some frustration in communicating the government’s message on curriculum changes but says this is not the reason he is stepping down from cabinet.

“He was frustrated by that, I think he would be the first one to tell you that,” he says. “We all want to effectively communicate the messaging of the government, ministry spokespeople do and people in elected office that’s obviously a pretty top priority.”

Wall also confirmed that recommendations from the joint task force on Aboriginal education and employment are not amongst the curriculum changes on hold.

The Premier adds it was Marchuk’s own decision to withdraw from cabinet.
