Ottawa says three more Saskatchewan bands have opted into the First Nations land management regime.

English River, Mistawasis and Yellow Quill are some of the newest First Nations across the country exiting the land-related limitations of the Indian Act in order to take control of their own resources.

The optional measure enables First Nations to manage their land, resources and environment according to their own policies

There are 15 other Saskatchewan bands that are at various stages of adopting the mechanism.
