A group of eight men and women are walking across Canada to raise awareness on the issue of missing and murdered Aboriginal women.

Tears For Justice was in Saskatoon yesterday, is in North Battleford today and will be heading to Lloydminster tonight.

Gladys Radek, the group’s founder, says the walk is about more than just raising awareness of missing and murdered Aboriginal women but to also show nothing short of a full government inquiry into the issue and action plan are warranted.

“We’re in need of a national public inquiry and that is so the family’s voices of their loved ones can be heard,” she says. “We are also pushing for a national action plan to implement all the public and safety measures, recommendations, reports and everything to eliminate violence against women.”

She adds eight of ten provinces support the call for a national inquiry.

it is just a matter of getting the federal government on board.

Tears For Justice began its walk in Sydney, Nova Scotia on June 21 and aims to finish in Prince Rupert, B.C. around September 20.

The walkers range in age from 25 to 78.
