Ceremonies are taking place this week on the Muskoday First Nation for people who have lost loved ones to violence or who have gone missing.

Angie Bear is the coordinator for the event.

She says roughly two dozen people were on hand for the start of the All Nations Healing Moon Gathering.

She says this year’s gathering might not be as big as last year, but there’s a tremendous amount of positive energy coming from the people who are there:

“You know I don’t think the number’s very high but the people that are here are the people that are really trying hard to get the healing that they want.”

She says many people were unable to get down to the event because of finances but she says elders are saying prayers for them too.

She adds a Cree instructor also came down to staff a language booth.

The gathering runs until Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park.
