RCMP are investigating what they are calling the suspicious death of a six-year-old boy in an aboriginal community in southeastern Saskatchewan.

Police say a caregiver called them about 10 p.m. on Thursday to say the child from the Kahkewistahaw First Nation was missing.

RCMP received another call about 20 minutes later that said an injured child had been found in the community.

Officers confirmed it was the same boy.

The child was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

Investigators are calling the death suspicious due to the child’s injuries.
