It was a day to remember for a young family on the Montreal Lake First Nation.
On Saturday paramedics rushed to the reserve for a report of a woman about to give birth.
Spokesman Lyle Karasiuk says when they got there they found the woman was in advanced labour, and decided to deliver the baby right then and there:
“It’s a whole lot easier to deliver a baby at the scene than it is in the back of a moving vehicle though they’ve done both on many occasions before.”
The baby boy was delivered safe and sound, both he and his 24 year-old mother are expected to be released from hospital soon.
Karasiuk says cases like this happen about six times a year.
