The CRTC has renewed the operating license for the Aboriginal People’s Television Network.
This means the network will continue to be included as part of a basic cable package until August 2018.
As part of the renewal, APTN is required to broadcast an average of eight hours of Canadian programming between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. each week.
It will also have to broadcast a minimum of 35 hours of programming in Aboriginal languages a week as well.
APTN is based out of Winnipeg.
