One of the co-founders of the Idle No More Movement is scheduled to speak at a major event in Toronto this week.

Sheelah McLean will join former Prime Minister Paul Martin and Assembly of First Nations Chief Shawn Atleo at the Couchiching Summer Conference.

Started back in 1932, the Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs has hosted several national forums.

This year’s event will focus on Aboriginal issues.

The institute’s president Rima McGown says the group wants to see a different kind of conversation happening when it comes to relations between Canada and its Aboriginal peoples.

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Sweetgrass First Nation elder Wes Fineday are also scheduled to address the audience.

The conference runs until Sunday.
