Preparations are underway for the 16th Annual John Arcand Fiddle Fest.

The festival takes place August 8th to 11th, just southwest of Saskatoon.

Festival organizer Vicki Arcand says there will be a lot to take in at this year’s event, including a new cultural camp.

“This year, we’ve added a cultural camp which we’re quite excited about,” she says. “A bunch of Métis art forms, a couple kinds of beading, embroidery, finger weaving, and course the regular slate of fiddle, guitar and jigging workshops.”

Arcand adds, because the festival is outdoors and in summertime, numbers are always hard to predict — but they expect anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 people to attend this year’s event.

She says one of the attractions of the festival is its affordability — event goers can take in all activities for the price of a single gate admission.
