The second annual Missing People Awareness Walk is on today hosted by the Agency Chiefs Tribal Council.

The event began this morning in Spiritwood with a rally, followed by the walk which ends with supper at Witchekan Lake First Nation.

Co-organizer Delphine McAdam says the goal is to raise awareness about how people go missing and what can be done to prevent it.

“It is not an assumption that somebody gets taken, maybe somebody goes hunting and they are out on their own, it is about being aware of the things they can do to be safer”.

McAdam says another goal is to get the community involved with search and rescue efforts when people in the area are reported missing.
