It was a big weekend for Donny Parenteau at the Saskatchewan Country Music Association awards in Saskatoon.

The Métis musician picked up four awards including best album, fiddle player of the year, best specialty player and Aboriginal artist of the year.

Parenteau says it is always nice to be recognized by colleagues and especially in a homegrown setting.

“It’s always nice to be recognized for what you do, and enjoy what you do still to this day, and for your peers to recognize you once again for doing that,” he says.

The Prince Albert musician was nominated for a total of ten awards.
