A benefit concert is taking place tonight in Prince Albert for the local chapter of Idle No More.

The show begins at 7:00 p.m. at the John M. Cuelenaere Library.

Rick Sawa of the Council of Canadians says Idle No More is a grassroots expression of democracy and adept at tackling local and national issues.

He says the concert is intended to be a show of support:

“Kind of a celebration for them, the work they’ve done . . . and also to give them moral support and some financial support.  I know they hold events and they’re always providing food — so this is just a little bit of help for them.”

Violet Naytowhow headlines the list of performers.
