A Métis youth conference will be taking place in Saskatoon this Saturday.

The conference is open to all Métis young people in Saskatchewan and takes place at the Travelodge Hotel.

MNS President Robert Doucette says this is the first provincial conference for Métis youth and it has been organized by young people.

“To my knowledge this is the first Métis youth conference actually organized with Métis youth for Métis youth from across the province of Saskatchewan,” he says. “I am really excited about this initiative because we are all working toward the future of our nation and part of that is to build leadership in our youth.”

The keynote speakers at the conference will be teacher Jennifer Altenberg and artist Jason Baerg.

Doucette says the youth conference will also feature a number of workshops on community engagement, healthy lifestyles and the Idle No More movement.
