In spite of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s recent agreement to meet with First Nations leadership, Idle No More rallies continued in Saskatchewan this past weekend.
On Saturday, close to hundred protesters partially blocked the Trans-Canada highway just east of Regina slowing traffic for about three hours.
RCMP officers were on hand to ensure traffic moved safely as motorists for the most part honked approval.
Also on Saturday, more than 300 activists packed into the White Buffalo Youth Lodge in Saskatoon to attend an Idle No More rally.
One of the featured speakers at the event was Aboriginal actress Tantoo Cardinal and Idle No More founders – Sheelah McLean, Sylvia McAdam, Jessica Gordon and Nina Wilson – were formally honoured for their work in the movement.
