The mother of an Aboriginal toddler who died while in foster care two years ago says all she wants is justice for her son.

Eunice Wudrich is charged with criminal negligence causing death after 22-month-old Evander Lee Daniels, who was a member of the Sturgeon Lake First Nation, drowned in a bathtub in her home on June 8, 2010.

Evander’s mother Nicole Daniels says it has been heart wrenching to listen to testimony surrounding the boy’s death this week and all she wants now is closure.

“I just want to see justice, I just want to see something done,” she says. “This shouldn’t have to happen to anyone, any young mom in my case.”

Wudrich was looking after six children, including five foster children under the age of five, at the time of Evander Daniels death.

The Crown and defense made closing arguments this morning at Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon and the case has now been adjourned until Friday Jan. 18 when Justice Neil Gabrielson will render a decision.
