The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority handed out $25,000 in scholarships this morning to First Nations postsecondary students from across the province.

SIGA awards scholarships annually to students pursuing a Masters or PhD in any field as well as those studying Information Technology, Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism Management.

This year’s scholarship winners include Jaris Swidrovich, of the Yellow Quill First Nation, and Cassandra Opikokew, from Canoe Lake First Nation who both received $5,000 each.

The presentation took place at the Wanuskewin Heritage Park, just outside Saskatoon.

Dakota Dunes Casino staff and SIGA Corporate Office employees also donated more than $8,000 in gifts and food to the Saskatoon Salvation Army this morning.
